Tabata Protocol on the VMX Rope Trainer

The Tabata Protocol
Recently we've been hearing a lot about the Tabata protocol. It is a type of high intensity interval training similar to the HIIT programs you are probably familiar with. We wanted to try it out for ourselves with one of our Rope Trainers and we recorded the results.

What is Tabata? The basic Tabata protocol is composed of a 5 minute warm-up, a 4 minute core workout with intervals of high intensity for 20 seconds, followed by 10 seconds of rest, ending with a 2 minute cool-down period.

The Results
Results with a more intense warm-up period. Notice the rising and falling heart rate during each interval.
Results with a casual warm up. The heart rate climbs as the program creates oxygen debt.
